Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Safety

ESD Safety is a set of standard testing procedures to guarantee no damage occurs during sudden discharge of static electricity.

ESD is the Electrostatic Discharge reaction due to the electrostatic build-up, of which short-burst energy could cause damage to electronic components. Therefore, in order to ensure our SSD is protected from defects or damages caused by electrostatic discharge during the manufacturing process, ESD testing is carried out using EMC testing equipment generating a momentary energy burst to validate the SSD’s protective capability to counter Electrostatic Discharge.

SSSTC SSDs comply with the international testing standard protocol of ICE 61000-4-2 to test electrostatic discharge by contact, which entails 4kV and 8kV voltage release during Packaging and Handling process, as well as 2kV voltage release during Production and Service process, after which the tested SSDs should be functioning normally without any performance loss.
